An Al Jazeera documentary on the influence of big oil on media in the Canadian election features Bruce Livesey, National Observer and the Tar Sands Reporting Project. National Observer is mentioned as first of two rare news sources critical of oil industry in Canada.

To get to the part about Canada's oily media, cue to 13 minutes into the video.

Also, yesterday, Vancouver Observer received an award from the Fur-Bearers Association of Canada for last year's in-depth special report on trophy hunting by Mychaylo Prystupa and Claire Hume. It was an inspiring day for us.
