Cape Breton may be getting some very famous residents thanks to Donald Trump.
Fox News broadcast a clip on Monday saying there’s a “Nova Scotia town — actually an island — it is lovely,” that will take in all the famous Americans fleeing should Trump gain the Republican nomination.
In fact, Fox just called Nova Scotia’s Cape Breton “Land of the Flee.”
What prompted the report?
Jon Stewart, Samuel L. Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie O’Donnell and Cher are among the famous celebrities who have said they’ll leave the United States if Trump wins the Republican nomination.
Raven-Symone, the host of The View, said she already has her escape route planned.
“If any Republican gets nominated I’m going to be moving to Canada with my entire family. I already have my ticket booked,” she said.
One of the Fox hosts asks to see a shot of Cape Breton again, noting she sees only one road and lots of trees. “It looks like the Sound of Music,” she says.
Another opines that it looks like Blue Lagoon, although a little chillier.
Donald Trump’s son’s response: “I’ll buy them their airfare.”
Why Cape Breton, of all places?
In mid-February a local disc jockey threw together a website offering Americans a place to flee if Trump became president.
The site, put together by Rob Calabrese, offered that should the billionaire real estate mogul win, “and you decide to get the hell out of there, might I suggest moving to Cape Breton Island?”
Apparently, a lot of Americans took Calabrese’s offer seriously.
More than half a million people have checked out Calabrese’s website since he put it together.
