The B.C. government is pairing up with agriculture groups in a bid to help ranchers and farmers prepare early as the province anticipates a second year of extreme drought as the climate crisis advances.

University of British Columbia bee researcher Alison McAfee says the extreme highs and lows are particularly dangerous to bumblebee populations since "false springs" could make queens emerge prematurely from hibernation.

The widespread flooding and landslides followed "destructive, climatechange-related" wildfires, drought and heat waves last summer.

Ranchers who have lost animals and land to devastating wildfires across British Columbia are getting help from the provincial and federal governments.
