A proposed income tax change to crack down on cross-border tax avoidance could unintentionally hike power bills and natural gas rates for consumers, Electricity Canada is warning.

The RCMP told MPs on Monday, March 7, 2022, that it only gave the names of people directly involved in Ottawa protests to banks to freeze their accounts, and not supporters who donated to the so-called Freedom Convoy.

Several MPs are currently sponsoring bills meant to hold the government to account on its climate commitments.
