Before the sun broke through the sky on Monday morning, members of a Manitoba First Nation planned to start a critical month-long search in a good way.

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is reiterating demands for more concrete action after meeting with Indigenous leaders at the site of a former residential school in Kamloops, B.C., that bears unmarked graves.

A lack of access to records and first-hand data would hinder the ability to identify the remains of 215 children found at a former residential school in Kamloops, says the director of the Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre at the University of British Columbia. 

Indigenous people have had enough apologies and want action from the Catholic Church and federal government, says the chief of the Tk'emlups te Secwepemc First Nation in British Columbia.
