Efforts by Canada's financial intelligence agency over the last three years uncovered activity related to homegrown terrorism, the bankrolling of international terrorist groups and attempts by Canadians to take part in extremism abroad.

Authorities are collecting information about the right-wing Proud Boys group as part of a possible terrorist designation, the federal Liberal government said on Sunday, January 10, 2021, as it faced calls to ban the organization over its role in last week’s Capitol Hill riot.

Evacuations had been suspended following a weekend bomb attack on a convoy of evacuees which reportedly killed 126 people.
