On a clear summer day in August, Rebecca Blake found herself standing in a cemetery outside Edmonton searching for the graves of Inuvialuit who died in the South during a tuberculosis epidemic. 

"We are in 2022 and our history is being stored and shown in other countries where nobody understands," said Marie-Anne Day Walker-Pelletier

First Nations leaders who have called on their communities to return to the land to find food during the COVID-19 pandemic are also seeing people reconnect with their traditions.

Some unlikely neighbours are moving in around the northernmost communities of the Northwest Territories, across the icy tundra of Canada's High Arctic.

Inuit are hoping to use the alphabet to help keep their far-flung people together.
