In a surprise move on Monday, Aivilik MLA Solomon Malliki gave notice that he'd present a motion calling for Akeeagok to be stripped of his premiership and removed from cabinet.

Trudeau is in Iqaluit to mark the signing of an agreement to hand over powers to the territorial government when it comes to their management of land, fresh water and the resources each contain. 

In 2019, Trudeau's then-Crown-Indigenous relations minister, Carolyn Bennett, signed an agreement-in-principle with Nunavut's then-premier intended to serve as a guide for negotiating a final agreement. 

Yukon's premier says he and the other two premiers of Canada's northern territories met with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the national defence minister on Monday to discuss Arctic sovereignty and security in light of the war in Ukraine.
