Premier Danielle Smith says she is sorry if anyone misinterpreted earlier remarks to conclude she was equating Ottawa’s treatment of Alberta to the systemic and horrific abuse of First Nations people in Canada.

Alberta's Lubicon Cree have been fighting for decades for a land they could call their own.

"Our process on this, with the blessing of the aboriginal communities, is to withdraw Bill 22, which will be happening next week in the legislature," said Indigenous Relations Minister Richard Feehan.
