Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Pope Francis seems open to apologizing for the Roman Catholic church role in mistreatment of Canada's indigenous peoples.

Justin Trudeau is expected to ask Pope Francis for a formal apology for the role of the Catholic Church in the residential school system when the two meet during a private audience later this month.

“I don’t know where these (documents) would be,” said the archbishop. "In the Kingdom of Denmark?"

Indigenous people have had enough apologies and want action from the Catholic Church and federal government, says the chief of the Tk'emlups te Secwepemc First Nation in British Columbia.
