Canada's National Energy Board is giving members of the public and other affected stakeholders less than a week to register to participate in a new review of the controversial Trans Mountain pipeline expansion project.

If the government really wants to develop Canada’s energy sector and get resources to market "they will invite Energy East back to the table," said Conservative Party Leader Andrew Scheer.

"The Liberals are failing Canadians by destroying investment confidence in the energy sector in Canada… The reality is this: that under the Liberals more energy investment has been lost than any other time frame in 70 years, $100 billion of energy projects cancelled."

Canada’s constitution grants them many rights, and it is far from certain that these rights have been respected in the pipeline approval processes. Currently, 18 cases are before the courts in this matter. Regardless of the rulings in these cases, the parties will certainly appeal, perhaps all the way to the Supreme Court of Canada, which could take years.
