Blockades at key border crossings between Canada and the U.S. are poised to leave Canadians facing shortages of produce, ketchup, and other essential items. 

The Ontario government says it has successfully petitioned a court to freeze access to millions of dollars donated through online fundraising platform GiveSendGo to the convoy protesting COVID-19 restrictions in Ottawa and at several border crossings.

Pressure has mounted on both sides of the border, and across the political aisle in Canada, for protesters blockading key crossings with the U.S. and others encamped by Parliament Hill to go home, or for officials to move them out of the way.

Alongside signs promoting freedom and unity, protesters in Ottawa have displayed swastikas, Confederate flags and other white nationalist imagery. A hate crime expert says convoy organizers may be tokenizing BIPOC protesters to build support.

OTTAWA — Ontario Superior Court Justice Hugh McLean has granted a 10-day injunction to prevent truckers parked on city streets in downtown Ottawa from honking their horns incessantly.
