Navdeep Bains

The Trudeau government has shaken up its cabinet committees and removed Global Affairs Minister Stéphane Dion from the environment, climate change and energy committee which he chaired.

Under the plan, the government will accept up to 2,000 immigrant applications in 2017, with increased numbers in the following years depending on performance.

Navdeep Bains says the government will focus on six policy areas, including supporting research excellence and competing in a digital world.
