Dr. Dayna Nadine Scott is an associate professor at Osgoode Hall Law School and the Faculty of Environmental Studies at York University. She is a former member of the federal government's Challenge Advisory Panel on the implementation of the Chemicals Management Plan, a former director of the National Network on Environments and Women's Health, and the editor of Our Chemical Selves: Gender, Toxics and Environmental Health (UBC Press, 2015).
Chemicals aren't people. They shouldn't be presumed innocent
Under existing law, those who want to restrict use of a chemical must prove harm to humans or the environment. This is fundamentally backwards.
