About John Young
John Young brings more than 25 years experience to environmental and social justice issues. He was the founding executive director of ACORN Canada and served as director of communications at Oxfam Canada. He has been a political and policy adviser for the NDP on Parliament Hill and in the premier's office in Victoria. He worked with commercial fishing and community organizations to support B.C.’s small boat salmon fishing industry and was executive director of B.C. Citizens for Public Power, opposing efforts to privatize BC Hydro. He lives on the traditional territory of the Tla'amin Nation in the qathet region of the Upper Sunshine Coast in B.C., where he grows all of his household's organic produce.
