The NDP can’t count on a B.C. Green Party legislator to take on the role of Speaker of the legislature, according to a newly-elected Green MLA.

From across Canada, more than 15 transit and community groups, mayors and transit board chairs from six agencies came together Monday to call on the federal government to support a new and more sustainable model for transit funding.

The groups argued that regional impact assessments failed to consider the increasing impacts of offshore oil and gas drilling on the delicate marine ecosystem off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador. But they lost at the Federal Court of Appeal.
