About Tegan Hansen
Tegan Hansen joined Stand’s forest team in 2019 and splits her time across Musqueam, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, Ktunaxa, Sinixt, and Syilx territories in British Columbia. Hansen's work focuses primarily on old growth and forest protection, as well as challenging the growing forest biomass energy sector. She has a background in communications and community organizing, with a focus on land and water defense, wildlife, and climate justice. Whether it's kayaking between an oil tanker and a tar sands terminal, organizing courthouse rallies, or presenting to international delegations, Hansen has always pursued a range of tactics to advance justice for communities, climate and land.
The B.C. government doesn’t want you to know
While B.C. fumbles on its commitments, old growth falls; forest defenders are arrested; mills close; and ecosystems are pushed further toward the brink of collapse by major timber companies.
A dangerous fuel threatens to undermine the world’s renewable energy promises
With devastating impacts on communities, biodiversity and the global climate, the growing forest biomass industry could turn clean energy dreams into nightmarish destruction.
B.C. continues to permit the destruction of old-growth forests
Old-growth deferrals are a legal tool to stop logging, providing time for First Nations and B.C. to uphold Indigenous title and rights.
